Dodgers Highlights: Andy Pages Walk-Off, Teoscar Hernández Homer, Shohei Ohtani & Will Smith RBI

The Los Angeles Dodgers overcame an early-deficit, and their bullpen giving up the lead late, to still pull out a victory in extra innings, led by some clutch hitting.

While the Atlanta Braves got on the board first with a solo home run from Austin Riley, the Dodgers answered in the third inning. Shohei Ohtani walked and stole second base, and he was driven in by Will Smith.

They ended up taking the lead in the fourth when Teoscar Hernández hit his seventh home run of the season, and Gavin Stone was able to protect that lead with another strong outing.

Stone pitched six innings with just the one-run allowed before Joe Kelly worked a scoreless seventh.

However, the Braves tied it in the eighth with a solo homer from Ronald Acuña Jr. against Daniel Hudson, which ultimately sent the game to extra innings.

The Braves scored the first run of extra innings in the 10th with a sacrifice fly off the bat of Orlando Arcia. Alex Vesia retired all three batters he faced, but could not stop the Braves from moving their ghost runner over, and then in to score.

Chris Taylor pinch-ran as the Dodgers ghost runner in the bottom half of the inning, and he came around to score on a two-strike hit from Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani let out a ton of emotion after the hit, which may have provided some relief after struggles with runners in scoring position to begin the year.

Michael Grove prevented the Braves from scoring their runner in the 11th, and with runners at the corners for the Dodgers, it was up to Andy Pages.

The rookie had three hits in the game prior to that point, and after a long at-bat, he singled home the winning run for his first walk-off hit.

It’s been no surprise the Dodgers have gone on a hot streak shortly after the promotion of Pages from Triple-A Oklahoma City. In 60 at-bats, he’s hitting .333 with three home runs and 11 RBI, along with a .921 on-base plus slugging.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts gave some credit to Pages for helping bring the Dodgers out of their early-season funk, and he’s been impressing coaches, players and fans alike.
