Isaiah Stewart, Pistons Agree to Four-Year Contract Extension

The Pistons and center Isaiah Stewart have reached agreement on a four-year, $64 million rookie-scale contract extension, agent Drew Gross told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Stewart, 22, averaged 11.3 points and 8.1 rebounds in 50 appearances last season, starting 47. He underwent season-ending surgery on a left shoulder injury in March.

The No. 16 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Stewart becomes the first player from that class to not sign a maximum rookie-scale extension, Wojnarowski noted. But he also is the first Detroit player to land such a deal since former center Jason Maxiell in 2008.

Stewart compiled 13 double-doubles last season, and such rugged and intense play will likely be appreciated by new coach Monty Williams.
